In a heated confrontation, former Pakistan captain Babar Azam lost his cool and unleashed relentless abuse on goalkeeper Irfan Sukkur before referees and players intervened and separated the two individuals.

Rangpur Riders took on Durdanto Dhaka in the 12th matchup of the BPL 2024 season today. After being put in to bat first, the Riders opened with Brandon King and Pakistan’s star batsman Babar Azam.

That said, Azam powered his way through the first 10 overs of the first innings. He failed to optimize the restriction of the powerplay field, and his problems only worsened as the game progressed before he finally regained his rhythm after the half-century of running the ball.

Anyway, the initial setback led to frustration as Babar Azam looked extremely angry with himself. However, things took an ugly turn when Dhaka wicketkeeper Irfan Sukkur confronted Babar, alleging that the Pakistani batsman was directing bad words at him.

However, Babar Azam lost his cool and snapped at Sukkur aggressively, saying that he was not talking to him. Instead, she was talking to herself. Sukkur was taken aback by Babar’s aggression and asked him to calm down.

Subsequently, the Dhaka umpires and captain intervened and separated the players. However, Babar Azam’s anger had reached its peak. Even after Irfan Sukkur backed off, Azam was seen hurling relentless abuse at the goalkeeper and animatedly explaining the incident to his teammate Mohammad Nabi.

Seeing the former Pakistan captain’s disgusting speech, Sukkur said something in his defense and the ugly verbal fight only intensified. Fortunately, both referees acted as mediators and avoided any major scenes.

Meanwhile, Babar Azam channeled his anger and frustration to guide the Riders to an above-average total of 183 runs.

That said, Babar’s recent outburst was linked to his poor form with the bat. Since the elimination from the ODI World Cup, the former captain has been struggling to overcome the worst phase of his career. Furthermore, with the T20 World Cup just around the corner, Azam is desperate to regain his form.
