For Ishan Kishan, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 will be a litmus test. The entire controversy over his reluctance to play domestic cricket resulting in the termination of his contract with the BCCI has made Ishan Kishan a hot topic in Indian cricket. Former India opener Aakash Chopra feels that Ishan Kishan should grab this opportunity with both hands.

While no official reason was given as to why Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer were dropped, a line in the BCCI statement gives a strong hint. “The BCCI has recommended that all athletes give priority to participating in domestic cricket during periods when they are not representing the national team,” the BCCI said.
When Ishan Kishan walked out of India’s tour of South Africa, the BCCI said on December 17: “Mr. Ishan Kishan has requested that the BCCI be released from the upcoming Test series against South Africa citing personal reasons. The wicketkeeper was subsequently withdrawn. of the test team.”
While Ishan Kishan was expected to play domestic cricket during his time away from the national team, the wicketkeeper-batsman decided to remain absent from his state team’s Ranji Trophy matches in Jharkhand. Shreyas Iyer was also excused from one of the Ranji Trophy matches with Mumbai due to an injury. However, the NCA’s report on his injury was contradictory, according to a report in the Indian Express.
Now, in a report by ESPN Cricinfo, it is claimed that the Indian cricket team management contacted Ishan Kishan during the ongoing Test series between India and England. Reports added that Kishan replied that he was not ready yet. In his absence, Dhruv Jurel got the chance and won the Man of the Match award.
