Super Tuesday – the day in March when more than a dozen states and territories hold their primaries – has long had the power to reshape a presidential race.
But this year, Super Tuesday promises to answer pressing questions for voters across the country in 2024. already complicated electoral cycle.
On the eve of the now-famous date, Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley is wrapping up a leg of her multi-state race. But Tuesday could be Haley’s last stand to challenge GOP front-runner and former President Donald Trump for the White House.
And his is not the only race to follow this week.
This year, 15 states and one territory will host presidential primaries on the first Tuesday in March. Voters will also help narrow the field of candidates in heated congressional races, as well as the first gubernatorial primaries. in the competitive state of transition of North Carolina.

What will Donald Trump do after Super Tuesday?
Since announcing his 2022 campaign, the former president appears to be a shoo-in for the Republican presidential nomination.
And while Super Tuesday can’t lock him in (a nominee needs 1,215 delegates, and Trump will still be a handful of delegates short even if he sweeps the country), Tuesday could very well get him closer to the finish line.
But despite his popularity among his conservative base, Trump would also likely need to rally the support of moderates and independents in a general election.

Trump appeared to be beginning that shift after his first primary victory in January’s Iowa Caucuses.
“This is truly the time for our country to come together,” Trump said. in his victory speechafter his historic victory in the nation’s first competition.
“It would be very nice if we could come together and fix the world and solve the problems,” he added.

Before launching his ill-fated campaign for the White House, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was a star. Time and time again, Republican voters said they saw him as the future of the party. But after a bitter scorched-earth primary in which Trump brutally beat DeSantis for the better part of a year, interviews with voters in early voting states suggest the Florida governor could have an uphill battle if he decides to run. again in 2028. Trump’s response to tomorrow’s result could once again give insight into his campaign strategy: Will he lean toward right-wing voters or court more centrist Americans?
It could be the deciding factor in the 2024 general elections. Recent surveys shows the former president slightly ahead of President Joe Biden, his expected opponent in November. But Democrats hope Trump’s polarizing personality will help give Biden an advantage among undecided voters.
“We live in abnormal political times, but the American people are still normal people. If they have to choose between normal and crazy, they will choose normal,” said Bruce Reed, a close Biden aide. he told the New Yorker.
Will Nikki Haley retire?
The former South Carolina governor has repeatedly said she has no plans to drop out of the 2024 White House race. But Tuesday has the potential to deal one of the hardest blows to her campaign, and speculation has increased about her next moves. Steps.
Would he join the long list of Republicans who dropped out of the race and endorsed Trump as their candidate? Or will Haley, seen by many as a moderate alternative to a Biden-Trump rematch, launch a third-party candidacy?
Further:Nikki Haley says her movement is not anti-Trump. Many of her followers say the opposite.
Haley continued to dodge the first question, defiantly telling Fox News on Monday afternoon that they should ask Trump if he would support another Republican candidate.
“I mean no one has asked him that,” Haley said in the interview. “Look, the convention isn’t until July. There’s a lot of time”.
He also stood by his previous statements that he would not run a third-party campaign.
“I am a conservative Republican. “I always have been and I always will be,” Haley told Fox News. “I’m not going to do it with a third party, that’s not something that interests me.”
However, Haley’s exact expectations for Super Tuesday remain unclear, along with her benchmark for continuing her campaign. That confusing goal could be intentional, as Trump is expected to claim victory after victory on Tuesday.
“We are going to do everything we can. “I want to be as competitive as possible,” Haley told CNN on Monday. “We certainly have numbers to look forward to, but we’ll see what happens tomorrow.”
When asked what it would take to stay in the race, Haley said, “as long as we’re competitive.”

Who will advance in the California Senate race?
Tuesday will also determine which two candidates in the heated race for California Senate will advance to the general election. California has a top-two primary system, meaning the two candidates who receive the most votes, regardless of party affiliation, will appear on the ballot in November.
While Californians will choose from 27 candidates on Tuesday, the likely favorites lie between three Democrats (California Reps. Adam Schiff, Katie Porter and Barbara Lee) and one Republican, Steve Garvey, a former Los Angeles Dodgers baseball player. .
