Today is the day college basketball fans have been waiting for all year. It’s Selection Sunday, the day the NCAA releases rankings and rankings for men and women’s college basketball teams for the NCAA College Basketball Tournament, also known as March Madness.

What is Selection Sunday?
The annual start of the NCAA college basketball tournament For both the men’s and women’s teams, Selection Sunday is the reveal of the NCAA rankings and rankings in the tournament’s elimination bracket known as “March Madness.”
A total of 68 men’s varsity teams and 68 women’s varsity teams are eligible for the tournament during the college basketball regular season, while 32 teams gain automatic entry into the tournament by winning their conference championship. The remaining teams advance to the tournament only if they are granted a general offer by the selection committee. Those decisions largely occur on Selection Sunday and the days leading up to it.

Selection Sunday for the 2023-24 NCAA college basketball season will take place today, Sunday, March 17, 2024.
- The men’s field is scheduled to be announced at 6:00 pm ET (3:00 pm PT).
- The women’s field is scheduled to be announced at 8:00 pm ET (5:00 pm PT).
