Taylor Swift took home album of the year at the Grammy Awards 2024 for his album “Midnights,” giving him four wins in that category over the course of his career, the most for any artist.

Swift also won best pop vocal album and surprised the audience during her acceptance speech by announcing that she would be releasing their next album“The Department of Tortured Poets”, April 19.

SZA earned the most nominations of any artist this year with nine, including nominations for album of the year, record of the year and song of the year. Although he had 15 Grammy nominations under his belt before this year’s selections, his only win as of Sunday was for best pop duo or group performance in 2022 for “Kiss Me More.” However, he quickly added more awards this year, including an award for best R&B song at the beginning of the show.

The Grammy Awards were once again held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and broadcast live on CBS and broadcast on Supreme+. Comedian and former host of “The Daily Show” Trevor Noah returned to the host the ceremony for the fourth consecutive time.

More Grammy Awards

Several other awards were presented before the start of the show, including the new category, best pop dance recording, which went to Kylie Minogue for her song “Padam Padam.” The Beatles won best music video for “I’m Only Sleeping,” the group’s first Grammy since 1997.

In another first, Tyla won the Grammy for the best performance of African music in the first year of the category’s existence for his song “Water.”

SZA won the second award for best pop duo or group performance of her career for “Ghost in the Machine,” along with Phoebe Bridgers, who also won best alternative music album with her band boygenius.

Killer Mike won all three awards for which it was nominated: best rap song, best rap performance and best rap album. he went later seen handcuffed several police officers removed him from the ceremony.

Folk music legend Joni Mitchell, 80, won her 10th Grammy (best folk album for “Live at Newport”) and performed an emotional rendition of “Both Sides, Now.” It was his first Grammy performance and a rare appearance since his recovery from a brain aneurysm in 2015.

And while the Oscars are still a few weeks away, “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” took home awards Sunday for best compilation score for visual media and best score for visual media, respectively. Song of the Year and Best Song Written for Visual Media also went to Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas for their song “What Was I Made For?” from “Barbie.”
