Director Johnathan Glazer’s Oscar-winning World War II-era film The Zone of Interest has set a maximum release date of April 5, 2024, the streaming service announced today.

It’s a date that will bring the acclaimed feature to subscribers at no additional cost in less than a month. Those who can’t wait to see how it offers a chilling perspective on the Holocaust can also pay to watch it on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV+ now.

The area of interest follows Rudolf Höss, played by Christian Friedel, and his wife Hedwig, played by Sandra Huller. The A24 film allows viewers a window peek into the couple’s seemingly perfect lives as they spend their days living next to a Holocaust concentration camp. Glazer released the image to the masses last year.

“Auschwitz commander Rudolf Höss and his wife Hedwig,” an official said the description of A24 says“they strive to build a dream life for their family in a house and garden next to the camp.”

The April release date comes just after Hot Spot managed to steer clear of the 96th annual Oscars ceremony. with two wins from his five nominations. The categories that saw him emerge victorious were International Feature Film and Best Sound. It received a Best Picture nomination, but lost to Christopher Nolan’s towering biopic Oppenheimer.

We called Glazer’s latest “absolutely horrifying, disgusting and monstrous”, giving it a 9/10 in our review. We added: “More than a simple reflection on the so-called “banality of evil,” it is a formally precise but completely devastating cinematographic intervention in the history of the medium itself. From the sound design to Mica Levi’s score, it’s like a nightmare that grows more disturbing the longer it goes on.”
