Parents and children flocked to the Target Center in Minneapolis over the weekend to see Disney on Ice.

Parents told Local 4 that about 40 minutes into the program, I did not see Native Anastasia Olson, who played Belle, stood up unsteadily with her partner and fell to the ice, hitting her head and then going into convulsions.

A tent was set up on the ice to provide medical care and the lights were dimmed. Shortly after, she was taken to a Minneapolis hospital and the show continued.

Olson is a well-known skater in Metro Detroit. She and her partner Jordan Cowan practiced at Ann Arbor Ice Cube for years.

Her banner remains on the Olympic rink, along with her silver medal from 2009 at the US National Figure Skating Championships.

After his competitive career ended, he became prominent in coaching young skaters and was on tour with Disney on Ice when the accident occurred.

Cowan said it was a natural extension of his talent.

“I’m not surprised at all that he took up skating,” Cowan said.

His injuries are described as serious, but the Minneapolis hospital says he is in stable condition.

“I know for a fact that she is a skater through and through,” Cowan said. “She will be back on the ice soon. I know she is a fighter and she will do anything for this sport.”
